Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 Coupe a Good SUV?
"Mercedes — ahem, Mercedes-AMG — is making our job harder with its new crop of four-cylinder performance models. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with a four-cylinder engine, but the problem is that AMG built its reputation on six-, eight- and even 12-cylinder engines that sounded and felt truly special. The GLC Coupe is a prime example, as it used to pack a turbo V6 in GLC 43 guise and a turbo V8 in the rarified GLC 63. Now they're all four-bangers, and strangely enough, the fuel economy hasn't even improved; in fact, the six-cylinder X4 M40i is more efficient by 2 mpg. We honestly love the idea of a ridiculously powerful GLC Coupe, but character matters, too, and the GLC 43's downsized engine lacks it."—Ranked #3 out of 3 Compact Performance SUV Coupes

Like the other AMG models that have switched over to four-cylinder power, the AMG GLC 43 Coupe will disappoint purists with its lack of character and its fake engine noises piped through the speakers. The fuel economy is unremarkable, too, so you don't get the expected benefit of cylinder downsizing there.
