"Offered as a sedan or a hatchback, the Civic Hybrid brings some serious credentials to this segment. Not many cars offer both 200-horsepower performance and a realistic shot at averaging 50 mpg. We give a slight nod to the Prius because the reliability of its hybrid powertrain has been proven over many years, whereas the Civic Hybrid's powertrain has less history. The Honda has a bigger backseat, though, and the Civic Hybrid Hatchback matches the Toyota's cargo-area versatility.
