Is the 2025 Toyota Camry a Good Car?
"Redesigned for 2025 and now equipped exclusively with the hybrid powertrain, the Camry goes all-in on Toyota's proven hybrid technology, and we're generally here for it. The Camry Hybrid was arguably the pick of the previous litter anyway, as it paired out-of-this-world fuel economy with plenty of acceleration for most situations. The new Camry is mostly the same under the hood, gaining a handful of horsepower and shedding just 1-2 mpg, with the key addition of optional all-wheel drive to give snow-belt shoppers another reason to buy. We like the overhauled interior, too — it looks and feels more sophisticated now, and the available 12.3-inch touchscreen gives the Camry a contemporary vibe. Starting well under $30k and nearly depreciation-proof (check the prices on used Camry Hybrids if you're skeptical), the Camry is one of the best values on the market, full stop."—Ranked #1 out of 7 Midsize Sedans
"What's this, a regular Camry thrown in with the hybrids? Well, as of the 2025 redesign, every Camry is now a hybrid, so Toyota simply dropped the 'Hybrid' from the name. As such, the Camry now does battle against both non-hybrid family sedans and the hybrid crew assembled here. It's certainly got the numbers to be the best, from its gaudy 50-mpg fuel economy to its impressive sub-7-second sprint to 60 mph. You can even get all-wheel drive if you want it, and the overhauled interior impresses with its newfound sophistication and available 12-3-inch touchscreen. Remarkably, the Camry also has the lowest starting price in this segment."—Ranked #1 out of 4 Midsize Hybrid Sedans
Which 2025 Toyota Camry Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 Toyota Camry that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2025 Toyota Camry Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $28,400
- MPG Combined: 51
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 225
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 6.8 sec
- Weight: 3,450 lbs
- Length: 193.5 in
It's interesting to see just how similar the 2025 Camry is to its predecessor, the 2024 Camry Hybrid. The wheelbase, width, height, interior space and cargo space measurements are all identical, though the 2025 is, inconveniently, 1.4 inches longer. The 2025 Camry also gives up 1 mpg to the outgoing Camry Hybrid, but it compensates with 17 extra horsepower. Notably, the fuel economy cited here goes with the entry-level Camry LE trim; the other 2025 Camry FWD trims are incrementally thirstier, with the SE/XLE/XSE trio checking in at 47 mpg combined.
2. 2025 Toyota Camry All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $29,925
- MPG Combined: 50
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 232
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 6.8 sec
- Weight: 3,594 lbs
- Length: 193.5 in
A significant difference between the outgoing Camry Hybrid and the redesigned, all-hybrid 2025 Toyota Camry lineup is the availability of all-wheel drive. So equipped, the 2025 Camry LE AWD gives up just a single mile per gallon to the front-wheel-drive version while gaining 7 horsepower in the bargain. It's guilt-free AWD, in other words, and it doesn't cost much more, either, so why not grab it? You can also see from the acceleration numbers that the new Camry is a lot quicker than the old Camry Hybrid, outsprinting it to 60 mph by 1.1 seconds. As with the front-drive Camry, though, the fuel economy figures dip if you step up to a trim above the base LE — Toyota says you lose a hefty 5 mpg with the Camry SE AWD or Camry XLE AWD (46 mpg combined), while the Camry XSE AWD brings up the rear at 44 mpg combined.
