1. 2024 Toyota Camry 2.5 Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $26,420
- MPG Combined: 32
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 203
- Torque: 184 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,310 lbs
- Length: 192.1 in
The base front-drive Camry continues to be one of the most sensible buys on the market. Great fuel economy, solid power, plenty of room inside, strong resale value — it's hard to find a weakness amid the standard Camry's many strengths. Regarding that fuel economy, though, note that the numbers cited here are specifically for the Camry LE and Camry SE trims, per the EPA; if you step up to the Camry XLE or Camry XSE, you get larger wheels and incrementally less efficiency, dropping to 31 mpg combined (27 city/38 highway).
2. 2024 Toyota Camry 2.5 All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $27,820
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 202
- Torque: 182 lb-ft
- 0-60: 7.6 sec
- Weight: 3,475 lbs
- Length: 192.1 in
The all-wheel-drive Camry has a notably smaller fuel tank than the front-drive version — 14.4 gallons versus 15.8. It's also about 10 percent less fuel-efficient, so that adds up to a whopping 126 fewer miles of driving range, in case that's something you care about. The good news is that the front-drive Camry's theoretical highway range is 616 miles, so the Camry AWD is still a bladder-buster in its own right. If you're wondering about the 3.5-liter V6 engine, by the way, it's only available with front-wheel drive. One more note: The EPA splits hairs with the more highly equipped XLE and XSE versions of the Camry AWD, dropping them to 28 mpg combined even though they retain the same ratings for city and highway efficiency (25 city/34 highway).
3. 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid
- Base Price: $28,855
- MPG Combined: 52
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 208
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 7.9 sec
- Weight: 3,480 lbs
- Length: 192.1 in
Pairing astonishing fuel economy with bold styling, and throwing in an extended 10-year/150,000-mile hybrid battery warranty, the Camry Hybrid is one of the best values on the market. Please note, though, that the fuel economy figures cited here are the best-case scenario and only apply to the Camry Hybrid LE trim; if you step up to the Camry Hybrid SE, Camry Hybrid XLE or Camry Hybrid XSE, you're looking at 46 mpg combined (44 city/47 highway). Which is still great, obviously, but the LE does have a significant advantage.
4. 2024 Toyota Camry 3.5 Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $33,485
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.5-liter V6
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 301
- Torque: 267 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.6 sec
- Weight: 3,575 lbs
- Length: 194.6 in
We tend to think of the Camry V6 as a single entity, but there are some details to be aware of. Specifically, the numbers shown here are for the Camry TRD, which is a rather silly "sporty" trim that is slightly longer, lower, and wider than the other two Camry V6 trims, namely, the Camry XSE V6 and the Camry XLE V6. Thing is, the TRD is also substantially cheaper than the Camry XLE V6 ($36,295) and Camry XSE V6 ($36,895), so it gets the spotlight here as technically the entry-level Camry V6. But most people will want to skip the TRD and its frankly ridiculous rear spoiler, so the effective starting price for a 2024 Camry V6 is $36,295. Even at that price, we dig it — you'll hit 60 mph in less than 6 seconds and have the peace of mind that comes with Toyota's high resale value and reputation for reliability.
