What's New for 2025?
Fundamentally unchanged this year, the EQS SUV now comes standard with four-zone climate control, soft-close doors, front headrest cushions and a center airbag between the front seats. A newly optional Automatic Comfort Door package provides fully automatic operation of the front and rear doors. Despite the lack of mechanical changes, the EPA has downgraded the EQS SUV's driving range significantly across the board.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV a Good SUV?
"While the EQS technically merits inclusion here due to its widely available third-row seat, it's hamstrung by the fact that it wasn't designed to be a three-row vehicle by default. Like the smaller EQB, the EQS offers a third row in the spirit of those old Mercedes wagons with their rear-facing seats in the cargo area. The third row in the EQS faces forward, of course, but it's more of a handy feature in a pinch than a true three-row solution. Still, if you like the EQS otherwise — and putting styling and pricing aside, we can understand why you would — then the optional third row could add major value for those occasions when, say, the grandkids need to hitch a ride. We appreciate that every EQS offers 300-plus miles of range, strong acceleration and a deep roster of tech features."—Ranked #9 out of 11 Large 3-Row Electric SUVs
"Well, is it the S-Class of electric SUVs? Judging by the anonymous soap-bar styling, we'd have to say it's not. But if you're wondering what sets the EQS SUV apart from its EQE SUV stablemate, which is about 10 inches shorter, it's more than just the stretched dimensions and the optional third-row seat that can be stuffed in the back. What's particularly notable about the EQS is that every version gives you about 300-320 miles of maximum range, which leaves you free to choose your preferred amount of horsepower, whereas the EQE sticks to the familiar inverse correlation between power and range. There's a Maybach variant, too, in case the regular EQS strikes you as too plebeian. But until Mercedes gives it true flagship styling, it'll be hard for this machine to generate real enthusiasm."—Ranked #6 out of 7 Premium Luxury Electric SUVs

1. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ SUV (Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $105,250
- Range: 323 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 419 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.5 sec
- Weight: 6,063 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
Weighing in at three tons, the EQS 450+ boasts impressive range for a hefty SUV. Its acceleration is relatively lackluster, though, especially compared to other six-figure EVs.
2. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ SUV 3-Row (Single Motor RWD)
- Base Price: $106,500
- Range: 323 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 419 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.5 sec
- Weight: 6,063 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
Mercedes doesn't provide dimensional data for the optional third-row seat in the 450+, but it's hard up against the liftgate, so there's not much cargo space behind it. Still, that's a lot of extra functionality for $1,250.
3. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $108,250
- Range: 312 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 590 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 6,305 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The dual-motor EQS 450 4MATIC SUV has us wondering why anyone would get the base single-motor EQS 450+, which starts at only three grand less. For that nominal extra spend, you get all-wheel drive and significantly quicker acceleration while sacrificing just nine miles of range.
4. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $109,500
- Range: 312 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 590 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 6,305 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
Adding the third-row seat to the dual-motor EQS 450 4MATIC SUV seems like a smart move to us. You get two fold-flat seats in the trunk and you only pay an extra $1,250. Just don't expect generous passenger space back there.
5. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC SUV (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $128,200
- Range: 317 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 536
- Torque: 633 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 6,327 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The EQS 580 4MATIC SUV is a tough one — for a whopping $20k more than the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV, you get the exact same range and significantly more power. Is the extra acceleration worth the spend? If you're spending six figures anyway, then yes, quite possibly.
6. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC SUV 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $129,450
- Range: 317 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 536
- Torque: 633 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 6,327 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
As with the lesser EQS SUV models, the 580 offers a third-row seat for just $1,250 extra. Granted, it's not a spacious third-row seat, but it gives you two additional seats in a pinch, and there's still room behind the third row for groceries — or fold that row flat and you'll have lots of space back there.
7. 2025 Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS 680 SUV
- Base Price: $179,900
- Range: 302 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 649
- Torque: 700 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 6,228 lbs
- Length: 201.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the sport-utility version of the Mercedes-AMG EQS Sedan. In case that looks like alphabet soup, allow us to clarify: Both of these top-of-the-line models use the same dual-motor electric powertrain, but whereas the Sedan skews sportier with its AMG treatment, the SUV opts for extra luxury via the Maybach sub-brand. It's hard to make a rational case for spending tens of thousands more for minimal performance gains — the key comp in this case being the EQS 580 4MATIC SUV, which is almost as quick and offers slightly more range for $50k less — but Maybach wouldn't be a thing if its customers were beholden to rationality.
