What's New for 2025?
Camaro is officially out of the game, and Ford celebrates the Mustang's muscle-car-convertible monopoly with a big price hike for the V8-powered GT Convertible. Also of note this year is the GT-only 60th Anniversary package.

Is the 2025 Ford Mustang Convertible a Good Car?
"The Mustang Convertible graduated from airport-rental status many years ago to become a desirable drop-top in its own right. Trouble is, Ford's pricing it like it's a Lincoln these days. Even the base four-cylinder EcoBoost version costs a bundle, while the V8-powered GT goes head-to-head with European luxury convertibles."—Ranked #2 out of 4 Mainstream Convertibles

1. 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Convertible (2.3T Automatic Transmission)
- Base Price: $42,945
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.3-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 315
- Torque: 350 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,741 lbs
- Length: 189.4 in
The Mustang EcoBoost convertible delivers impressive acceleration for a $40k convertible, but if they were our drop-top dollars, we'd put them on the GT with its vastly more mellifluous V8 engine.
2. 2025 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (5.0 Automatic Transmission)
- Base Price: $55,480
- MPG Combined: 19
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.0-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 480
- Torque: 415 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,012 lbs
- Length: 189.4 in
Although we love that the manual GT convertible exists, the automatic might be more in keeping with the vibe of this particular Mustang variant. Not that the Aston Martin DB12 is a Mustang rival, exactly, but it's a four-seat V8 convertible that's about the same length — and it comes only with an automatic.
3. 2025 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (5.0 Manual Transmission)
- Base Price: $55,480
- MPG Combined: 18
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.0-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 6-speed manual
- Horsepower: 480
- Torque: 415 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,991 lbs
- Length: 189.4 in
Just the fact that you can get a manual-transmission Mustang GT convertible at all is pretty cool, but we'd be remiss not to tell you that the Camaro SS convertible, in its final year of production for 2024, is also available with a manual and is a few grand cheaper to start.
