Is the 2025 Cadillac CT5 a Good Car?
"Refreshed for 2025, the sharp-looking CT5 reminds us that it's still here and still quite compelling, at least if you opt for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. We'd avoid the base 2.0-liter turbo four, however, as it lacks the potency and efficiency to compete with rival fours. But grab that turbo V6 — which is essentially the same engine that’s in the pricier and harder-edged CT5-V — and you'll have a top-notch luxury sedan, especially now that Cadillac has installed a crisp widescreen infotainment interface that rivals the segment's best. The CT5 V6 does give up a lot of fuel economy to the German six-cylinder engines in this class, but that’s a small price to pay for the authoritative acceleration it provides."—Ranked #3 out of 9 Midsize Luxury Sedans

1. 2025 Cadillac CT5 2.0T Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $47,595
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 237
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.6 sec
- Weight: 3,671 lbs
- Length: 193.8 in
The base CT5 is held back by its relatively inefficient and uninspired four-cylinder powertrain.
2. 2025 Cadillac CT5 2.0T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $49,595
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 237
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.9 sec
- Weight: 3,810 lbs
- Length: 193.8 in
The CT4 2.0T is already underpowered, and adding the weight of all-wheel drive doesn't help the cause. A 0-60 sprint of nearly 7 seconds is uncompetitive in this segment, as is fuel economy of just 30 mpg highway from a small-displacement turbo four-cylinder.
3. 2025 Cadillac CT5 3.0T Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $52,095
- MPG Combined: 22
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter V6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 335
- Torque: 405 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.9 sec
- Length: 193.8 in
The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 is exactly what's needed to wake the CT5 up. Remarkably, the CT5 3.0T's pricing starts just a little higher than that of the smaller CT4 2.7T, which makes do with a four-cylinder engine. It's a nice value.
4. 2025 Cadillac CT5 3.0T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $54,095
- MPG Combined: 21
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter V6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 335
- Torque: 405 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.1 sec
- Length: 193.8 in
With all-wheel drive, the twin-turbo V6's unimpressive fuel economy starts to draw attention to itself, dipping to just 26 mpg highway — that's pretty low for a midsize luxury sedan these days. Still, this is the engine to have, and AWD might give you the traction you need.
5. 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $56,995
- MPG Combined: 21
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter V6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 360
- Torque: 405 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.6 sec
- Weight: 3,974 lbs
- Length: 193.8 in
The CT5-V only makes 25 more horsepower than the regular CT5 3.0T, which uses the same engine. What you're getting with the V is essentially a more aggressive handling package with looks to match.
6. 2025 Cadillac CT5-V All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $58,995
- MPG Combined: 20
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter V6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 360
- Torque: 405 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,144 lbs
- Length: 193.8 in
Adding AWD to the CT5-V seems like a good idea to us, especially since it barely affects fuel economy.
7. 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Manual
- Base Price: $95,595
- MPG Combined: 15
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Supercharged
- Transmission: 6-speed manual
- Horsepower: 668
- Torque: 659 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.6 sec
- Weight: 4,123 lbs
- Length: 194.9 in
Equipped with a ridiculous supercharged V8 and six gears that you must shift for yourself, the CT5-V Blackwing manual will go down in history as one of the greatest sport sedans ever made.
8. 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Automatic
- Base Price: $99,270
- MPG Combined: 15
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Supercharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 668
- Torque: 659 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Weight: 4,142 lbs
- Length: 194.9 in
The manual CT5-V Blackwing will be the one to have years down the road, but that's not to say the automatic is a slouch. Pay the fee to skip the clutch pedal and you'll still have one of the best sport sedans ever.
