Is the 2025 BMW X4 M40i a Good SUV?
"It's not the freshest face anymore, but you'd be hard-pressed to identify where the X4 M40i shows its age. That's especially true under the hood, where the phenomenal turbocharged B58 inline-6 will make this model desirable for years to come. It's worth noting that the new-for-2025 X3 M50 uses an updated version of this engine that makes even more power and gets significantly better fuel economy, so if it's all about the engine for you, the X3 merits a close look. But the X4 M40i is remarkably powerful and efficient in its own right, and we daresay it looks a lot better than that new X3."—Ranked #1 out of 3 Compact Performance SUV Coupes

While the M40i remains the X4 to have, in our opinion, it's also showing its age for 2025. The B58 turbo inline-6 is still a work of art, but the X4 M40i's version of this engine is less impressive than the more powerful and far more fuel-efficient version found in the redesigned 2025 X3.
