What's New for 2025?
The M340i gets a $2k price hike, which is arguably a bargain given that its new 48-volt mild hybrid system delivers 3 more mpg, 4 more hp and 29 more lb-ft of torque. Inside, the latest version of iDrive has an updated user interface that now incorporates some climate-control functions.

Is the 2025 BMW M340i a Good Car?
"Is there such a thing as the perfect sport sedan? The M340i would undoubtedly be part of that conversation, thanks largely to the sublime B58 turbo inline-6 under the hood, which now makes nearly 400 horsepower yet returns well over 30 mpg on the highway. It's magical, for sure, but the rest of the car comes together so well, too, from the intuitive widescreen infotainment module to the refined ride and useful passenger space. It's a beautifully integrated product from the O.G. master of this genre."—Ranked #1 out of 6 Compact Performance Sedans
Which 2025 BMW M340i Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 BMW M340i that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2025 BMW M340i (3.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $59,600
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 386
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.4 sec
- Weight: 3,896 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
The B58 turbocharged inline-6 is a magical engine, as BMW geeks are well aware. In our experience, the EPA's fuel economy estimates are quite conservative when it comes to this engine, so you can expect highway efficiency of well over 30 mpg along with otherworldly acceleration. Who needs the M3, right? The B58 makes it a real question.
2. 2025 BMW M340i xDrive (3.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $61,600
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 386
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 4,008 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
That's not a typo — the all-wheel-drive M340i gets the exact same fuel economy as the rear-wheel-drive version, per the EPA. How does BMW do it? The B58 turbo six is an incredible engine, for one thing, but there's all sorts of sorcery going on inside this powertrain. Top-notch engineering from the Bavarians here.
