What's New for 2025?
The 330e plug-in hybrid has been discontinued for 2025. The remaining 330i and M340i variants get slight price hikes ($1k and $2k, respectively), while the M340i also boasts a new 48-volt mild hybrid system that delivers 4 more hp, 29 more lb-ft of torque and, incredibly, 3 more mpg. Inside, the latest version of iDrive has an updated user interface that now incorporates some climate-control functions.

Is the 2025 BMW 3 Series a Good Car?
"The 3 Series maintains its supremacy thanks to BMW's enduring engineering excellence, which shines through in the powerful yet incredibly fuel-efficient engines, the athletic chassis and the high-tech interior. The turbo inline-6 in the M340i is actually more efficient than some four-cylinder engines in this class despite making nearly 400 horsepower, but the 330i's standard turbo four is so good that most won't feel an urge to upgrade. There's also just enough room in back to keep six-footers happy, along with more than enough ride comfort and noise suppression to please all your passengers. The 3 Series has had a few hiccups during its decades-long run, but it stands proud today as the standard-bearer among small luxury sedans."—Ranked #1 out of 9 Compact Luxury Sedans
Which 2025 BMW 3 Series Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 BMW 3 Series that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
Scroll to:
1. 2025 BMW 3 Series 330i (2.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $45,500
- MPG Combined: 30
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 255
- Torque: 295 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.6 sec
- Weight: 3,644 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
Calling the 330i "entry-level" would be doing it a disservice. If you're a sedan shopper who loves to drive, the base-spec 3 Series could everything you want and need.
2. 2025 BMW 3 Series 330i xDrive (2.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $47,500
- MPG Combined: 28
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 255
- Torque: 295 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.4 sec
- Weight: 3,752 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
As usual with BMW, adding all-wheel drive to the 330i doesn't hurt fuel economy much, and you're also a couple tenths quicker to 60 mph thanks to improved traction off the line. For just a $2k premium, we'd say xDrive is a damn good deal.
3. 2025 BMW M340i (3.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $59,600
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 386
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.4 sec
- Weight: 3,896 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
The B58 turbocharged inline-6 is a magical engine, as BMW geeks are well aware. In our experience, the EPA's fuel economy estimates are quite conservative when it comes to this engine, so you can expect highway efficiency of well over 30 mpg along with otherworldly acceleration. Who needs the M3, right? The B58 makes it a real question.
4. 2025 BMW M340i xDrive (3.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $61,600
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 386
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 4,008 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
That's not a typo — the all-wheel-drive M340i gets the exact same fuel economy as the rear-wheel-drive version, per the EPA. How does BMW do it? The B58 turbo six is an incredible engine, for one thing, but there's all sorts of sorcery going on inside this powertrain. Top-notch engineering from the Bavarians here.
