What's New for 2025?
We don't expect Tesla to make any major changes to the Model 3 this year, although the company unveils updates on a rolling basis, so anything could happen. As of this writing, last year's base model — Standard Range RWD — was no longer available, which makes sense, as the Long Range RWD gives you so much more for just a few grand extra.

Is the 2025 Tesla Model 3 a Good Car?
"While it's certainly significant that the Model 3 beat out the excellent BMW i4 for first place in this segment, the truth is that there just aren't many premium compact electric cars, as opposed to SUVs. Zooming out, though, it's clear that the Model 3 is one of the best EVs on the market, regardless of body style. It's fast, it's nimble, it offers great range, and it's even pretty handsome after the so-called 'Highland' styling refresh. It's worth noting that the i4 and the Polestar 2 both offer hatchback trunks, whereas the Model 3 is strictly a sedan, but even there, its 21-cubic-foot trunk is surprisingly capacious. At the prices Tesla's charging, it's virtually impossible for any other automaker to compete."—Ranked #1 out of 3 Compact Luxury Electric Cars
Which 2025 Tesla Model 3 Should I Buy?

1. 2025 Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD
- Base Price: $42,490
- Range: 363 mi
- Battery Capacity: 82.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 286
- Torque: 322 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.6 sec
- Weight: 3,817 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
The Long Range RWD is the pick of the litter in our book, delivering the best range of any Model 3 along with serious acceleration. In fact, despite only having one motor, the Long Range RWD runs neck-and-neck with many rival dual-motor EVs, including that Korean dynamic duo, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD and the Kia EV6 AWD. But when it's time to take a road trip, the Long Range RWD will keep right on cruising while its dual-motor rivals are warning their drivers to recharge now. For around $43k before any tax credits are applied, it's one of the best values on the market today, period.
2. 2025 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD
- Base Price: $47,490
- Range: 341 mi
- Battery Capacity: 79.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 425
- Torque: 475 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.2 sec
- Weight: 4,030 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
The Long Range AWD is a close second for us among the Model 3 variants, edged out by the Long Range RWD on account of the latter's 22 extra miles of range and significantly lower base price. But the AWD version does give you appreciably more punch when you hit the throttle, and it still lives up to the "Long Range" label. Note how light these Model 3 configurations are, by the way, with the Long Range AWD being the first to cross the 4,000-pound threshold. So many EVs today weigh much more than their gas counterparts, but the Long Range AWD is only about 80 pounds heavier than the BMW M340i xDrive, a close competitor on the gas side.
3. 2025 Tesla Model 3 Performance
- Base Price: $54,990
- Range: 303 mi
- Battery Capacity: 79.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 510
- Torque: 547 lb-ft
- 0-60: 2.9 sec
- Weight: 4,054 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
If you prefer to prioritize just plain silly acceleration over maximum range, the latest Model 3 Performance will be hard to resist. Rated at 303 miles of range, the M3P has the lowest range rating of the 2025 Model 3 trio. But once you feel the difference when you peg the throttle, you might think 303 is just fine.
