1. 2024 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range RWD
- Base Price: $38,990
- Range: 272 mi
- Battery Capacity: 57.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 170 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 257
- Torque: 266 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 3,880 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
The entry-level Model 3 RWD is one of those cars that would be quite appealing if its siblings weren't so much better. For one thing, the standard-range battery pack tops out at a 170 kW charge rate, whereas the long-range battery gets up to 250 kW. For another, the long-range battery gets slightly better warranty coverage. Overall, this is still a quick and satisfying car to drive with plenty of range for most people, but the rest of the Model 3 lineup is so good that we'd recommend giving the base model a miss.
2. 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD
- Base Price: $42,490
- Range: 363 mi
- Battery Capacity: 82.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 286
- Torque: 322 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.6 sec
- Weight: 3,817 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
The Long Range RWD is the pick of the litter in our book, delivering serious acceleration along with the best range of any Model 3. For around $43k before any tax credits are applied, it's a hard package to top.
3. 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD
- Base Price: $47,490
- Range: 341 mi
- Battery Capacity: 79.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 425
- Torque: 475 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.2 sec
- Weight: 4,030 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
The Long Range AWD is a close second for us among the Model 3 variants, edged out by the Long Range RWD on account of the latter's 22 extra miles of range and significantly lower base price. But the AWD version does give you appreciably more punch when you hit the throttle, and it still lives up to the "Long Range" label. Note how light these Model 3 configurations are, by the way, with the Long Range AWD being the first to cross the 4,000-pound threshold. So many EVs today weigh much more than their gas counterparts, but the Long Range AWD is only about 80 pounds heavier than the BMW M340i xDrive, a close competitor on the gas side.
4. 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance
- Base Price: $54,990
- Range: 303 mi
- Battery Capacity: 79.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 510
- Torque: 547 lb-ft
- 0-60: 2.9 sec
- Weight: 4,054 lbs
- Length: 185.8 in
If you prefer to prioritize just plain silly acceleration over maximum range, the latest Model 3 Performance will be hard to resist. Rated at 303 miles of range, the M3P has the second-lowest range rating of the 2024 Model 3 quartet. But once you feel the difference when you peg the throttle, you might think 303 is just fine.
