What's New for 2025?

Is the 2025 Subaru Legacy a Good Car?
"We're going to miss the Legacy when it's gone, which won't be long now — Subaru plans to discontinue production in 2025. That's too bad, because the Legacy has really become an impressive all-around family sedan, pairing the expected standard all-wheel drive with a spacious interior, a supple ride and the carrot of zesty acceleration with the optional turbocharged 2.4-liter engine. But the base engine is perky enough, and the Legacy's handsome styling is icing on the cake. It's a good time to take a look at a Legacy while everyone else has SUVs on the brain."—Ranked #5 out of 7 Midsize Sedans
Which 2025 Subaru Legacy Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 Subaru Legacy that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2025 Subaru Legacy 2.5 AWD
- Base Price: $26,810
- MPG Combined: 30
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter flat-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 182
- Torque: 176 lb-ft
- 0-60: 8.0 sec
- Weight: 3,492 lbs
- Length: 191.1 in
In its final year for 2025, the Legacy remains an appealing value in its base mechanical form. The 2.5-liter flat-4 engine isn't a powerhouse, but it generally gets the job done, and the standard AWD system is a boon in the snow belt.
2. 2025 Subaru Legacy 2.4T AWD
- Base Price: $36,410
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.4-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 260
- Torque: 277 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.1 sec
- Weight: 3,764 lbs
- Length: 191.1 in
Going out with a bang as the Legacy sings its swan song for 2025, the turbocharged variant is one of the most thrilling rides in the family-sedan segment. Faint praise, perhaps, but we really do like Subaru's 2.4-liter turbo flat-4, our only reservation being the relatively unimpressive fuel economy it delivers.
