Which 2024 Subaru Legacy Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2024 Subaru Legacy that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2024 Subaru Legacy 2.5 AWD
- Base Price: $24,895
- MPG Combined: 30
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter flat-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 182
- Torque: 176 lb-ft
- 0-60: 8.0 sec
- Weight: 3,492 lbs
- Length: 191.1 in
The base 2.5-liter Legacy is on the slow side of normal for a midsize family sedan, but its standard all-wheel-drive system will appeal to shoppers in colder climes. Given that it's AWD, by the way, the fuel economy is quite good.
2. 2024 Subaru Legacy 2.4T AWD
- Base Price: $34,495
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.4-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 260
- Torque: 277 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.1 sec
- Weight: 3,764 lbs
- Length: 191.1 in
We're generally fans of going with the upgraded engine when the base engine doesn't have much zip, but this Legacy gives us pause. There's no doubt that the 2.4-liter turbo hauls the mail compared to the base 2.5-liter engine, but it also drags fuel economy down considerably, and it'll run you $10k more for the cheapest version (the Sport trim). This is still a lot of car for about $35k to start, especially when you consider that all-wheel drive is standard, but the choice may not be an easy one.
