What's New for 2025?
The R1T's carryover sheet metal conceals dramatic changes underneath, starting with Rivian-made electric motors in place of the previous Bosch units. A heat pump is newly standard, as are higher-resolution cameras and improved driver-assistance features. The rear suspension has been massaged to improve handling characteristics, and the three available battery packs are new or revised and generally more efficient. The Dual Max range leader gains 10 more miles this year for an extraordinary 420-mile EPA rating; meanwhile, the Tri joins the party with a one-two punch of 850 horsepower and 371 miles of range. Watch out for the revamped Quad, which now cranks out 1,025 horsepower and hits 60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Also, the eight-year battery warranties have been simplified: 120,000 miles for the Standard pack and 150,000 miles for the Large and Max.

Is the 2025 Rivian R1T a Good Truck?
"The R1T's stats are so amazing that they're scarcely believable. Zero to 60 in as few as 2.5 seconds? Range up to 420 miles? Towing capacity of 11,000 pounds? Serious off-road capability? Confident on-road handling? What kind of alien entity is this! It's just a stupendous truck, is what it is. Rivian deserves a round of applause, and quite possibly your business. Just keep in mind that the R1T's truck bed is relatively short, so this is more of a lifestyle truck than a hauler of large items, but we're guessing you knew that."—Ranked #1 out of 6 Electric Trucks
Which 2025 Rivian R1T Should I Buy?

Scroll to:
1. 2025 Rivian R1T Dual Standard
- Base Price: $69,900
- Range: 270 mi
- Battery Capacity: 92.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 533
- Torque: 610 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 6,507 lbs
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
Even the entry-level Rivian R1T is an incredibly capable vehicle, boasting all-wheel drive, 533 horsepower and a healthy driving range of 270 miles. This is an enormously heavy truck, remember, that can do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. The R1T would be a jaw-dropper even if this were the only available version, but we are very much just getting started.
2. 2025 Rivian R1T Dual Large
- Base Price: $76,900
- Range: 329 mi
- Battery Capacity: 109.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 533
- Torque: 610 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
Upgrading to the Large battery pack strikes us as another great deal. An extra 60 miles of range is nothing to sneeze at, especially when it's cold outside and you know your truck is burning up those electrons. For another seven grand compared to the Dual Standard, it'd be a no-brainer for us.
3. 2025 Rivian R1T Dual Large Performance
- Base Price: $81,900
- Range: 329 mi
- Battery Capacity: 109.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 665
- Torque: 829 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
Although the R1T Dual Large is already a stupid fast truck, adding the Performance package for $5k will be very tempting. Why? Because it leaves the regular Dual Large's range and efficiency estimates fully intact while lopping 1.1 seconds off the sprint to 60 mph. That's a lot of value.
4. 2025 Rivian R1T Dual Max
- Base Price: $83,900
- Range: 420 mi
- Battery Capacity: 141.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 533
- Torque: 610 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
It's an impressive feat for a massive truck to earn an EPA range estimate of well over 400 miles. How did Rivian do it? Well, the Max battery pack is the largest of the three, of course, but it also works more efficiently here, burning electricity at a rate of 39 kWh/100 mi — best in the lineup.
5. 2025 Rivian R1T Dual Max Performance
- Base Price: $88,900
- Range: 420 mi
- Battery Capacity: 141.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 665
- Torque: 829 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
The Dual Max Performance is the sweetest spot in a very sweet lineup. You get the most range the R1T has to offer along with supercar acceleration, and while the Tri Max is quicker still, do you really need to break the 3-second barrier in the sprint to 60 mph? We think 3.4 seconds will be just fine, especially given that the Dual Max Performance has about 50 more miles of range and costs $11k less. What a machine.
6. 2025 Rivian R1T Tri Max
- Base Price: $99,900
- Range: 371 mi
- Battery Capacity: 141.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3 electric motors
- Horsepower: 850
- Torque: 1,103 lb-ft
- 0-60: 2.9 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
The R1T Tri Max is an eye-popping new variant for 2025. It's rather unusual to see 850 horsepower and 371 miles of range overlapping in the same vehicle, especially if it's a go-anywhere pickup truck. Zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds is a notable result of all that power. The Dual Max Performance still calls to us, though, as its 665 hp is plenty, to put it mildly, while it gives you 49 extra miles of range at a big discount. Which one should you choose? Best to drive both and take stock.
7. 2025 Rivian R1T Quad Max
- Base Price: $109,900 (est.)
- Range: N/A
- Battery Capacity: 141.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 220 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 4 electric motors
- Horsepower: 1,025
- Torque: 1,198 lb-ft
- 0-60: 2.5 sec
- Length: 217.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,764 lbs
The quad-motor Rivian R1T is fantastic if you want EV bragging rights on your block, but the other Rivians are already silly fast. For our money, we'd consider saving more than $20k by opting for the Dual Max Performance, as it pumps you up to 665 hp and 829 lb-ft without affecting the Dual Max's gaudy 420-mile EPA range estimate.
