What's New for 2025?
The R1S carries over its familiar styling, but there are many changes underneath, starting with Rivian-made electric motors in place of the previous Bosch units. A heat pump is newly standard, as are higher-resolution cameras and improved driver-assistance features. The rear suspension has been massaged to promote more planted cornering, and the three available battery packs are new or revised and generally more efficient. The Dual Max range champ gains 10 more miles this year for a gaudy 410-mile EPA rating; meanwhile, the Tri joins the fray with an incredible combination of 850 horsepower and 371 miles of range. Watch out for the revamped Quad, which now pumps out 1,025 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in a claimed 2.5 seconds. Also, the eight-year battery warranties have been simplified: 120,000 miles for the Standard pack and 150,000 miles for the Large and Max.

Is the 2025 Rivian R1S a Good SUV?
"The R1S shines continuously across acceleration, range, towing capacity, cargo space and off-road capability, while the incredible variety of configurations pumps up its overall score. Our favorite is the Dual Max Performance, which hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and somehow manages to tie for the best range in the lineup at 410 miles. Those are jaw-dropping numbers at any price, making Rivian's $94,900 ask seem like something of a bargain. The R1S isn't overtly luxurious inside, but plenty of people seem to prefer that kind of minimalism (see Tesla, e.g.), and the touchscreen tech interface is so snappy and modern that you won't miss Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. As for the third-row seat, it's plenty spacious for most use cases. This Rivian is simply a stupendous machine that also happens to be an American SUV through and through. Cheers to that."—Ranked #1 out of 11 Large 3-Row Electric SUVs
"The numbers that illustrate the Rivian's otherworldly talents are simply amazing. Zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds? The R1S Quad's got you covered. How about 410 miles of range? The R1S Dual Max checks that box for about $90k, which is a screaming deal for this segment. Throw in mega off-road chops, capable on-road handling and lots of cargo space and you're looking at one of the best all-around vehicles on the market, period."—Ranked #1 out of 7 Premium Luxury Electric SUVs
