Is the 2025 Nissan Sentra a Good Car?
"The Sentra puts its emphasis on style and features for the money, paying less attention to what's under the hood. If you're cool with the mandatory 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), you might find the Sentra quite appealing, but we're left cold by the engine's groaning noises and lackluster acceleration. The squarish central touchscreen that sprouts from the dash also stands out as an artifact of an earlier time; check out the Kia K4's ultra-wide display for an example of what's next."—Ranked #7 out of 7 Compact Sedans
Which 2025 Nissan Sentra Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. There's only one standalone version of the 2025 Nissan Sentra, and here it is, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.

- Base Price: $21,590
- MPG Combined: 34
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 149
- Torque: 146 lb-ft
- 0-60: 9.2 sec

The Sentra nails the fuel economy part of the equation, but in other respects it fails to keep up with small-sedan segment leaders. Acceleration is particularly underwhelming. Note that the EPA says you'll lose a single mile per gallon, dropping to 33 mpg combined (30 city/38 highway), if you opt for the top-of-the-line SR with its larger wheels and tires. Since the SR uses the same powertrain as the rest of the Sentras, we'd advise giving it a miss.
