"The AMG badge on this Benz is no joke, but note that it's followed by a 53, not a 63, which means it's got an inline-6 engine rather than the top-dog V8. As such, this model is in something of a no-man's land, pitted as it is against the X6 M50i with its turbo V8 that's both stronger and better-sounding. We like the GLE Coupe overall, but given that the GLE 53 Coupe costs virtually the same as the V8-powered Bimmer despite coming up about 100 horsepower short, we have a hard time making the case."—Ranked #3 out of 3 Midsize Performance SUV Coupes
