Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB a Good SUV?
"The EQB's underwhelming range and lackluster acceleration serve as a double whammy in today's EV marketplace. Even its maximum range figure of 251 miles is subpar, and if you get that version, you have to live with poor acceleration (0-60 in 8.5 seconds). Would you rather fix the acceleration problem? It's possible, but then you're looking at a max range of barely more than 200 miles. These just aren't competitive numbers, and it's not like Benz is selling EQBs for cheap. If there's a saving grace here, it's the EQB's optional and very reasonably priced third-row seat, which is tiny but potentially useful for families who need extra seats for small children."—Ranked #12 out of 13 Compact Luxury Electric SUVs
"As unimpressed as we are by the EQB's range, acceleration and peak charge rate, all of which bring up the rear among small electric SUVs, we'll concede that its available and reasonably priced third-row seat sets it apart. There are hardly any compact EVs with three seating rows, and while the EQB's third row is predictably cramped, it could be a panacea for parents who don't want to buy a behemoth in order to have a couple of extra seats for small children. Provided you'll be doing most of your driving around town and can charge up easily at home, a three-row EQB could actually be a nice lifestyle solution. You'd have to hate the Model Y, though, because the far pricier Benz just can't compete on the merits."—Ranked #2 out of 2 Compact Electric 3-Row SUVs

- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ (Single Motor Front-Wheel Drive)
- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ 3-Row (Single Motor FWD)
- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
1. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ (Single Motor Front-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $53,050
- Range: 251 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 188
- Torque: 284 lb-ft
- 0-60: 8.5 sec
- Weight: 4,642 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The base EQB 250+ is hard to recommend given its poky acceleration (especially for an EV) and lackluster DC charging speed.
2. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ 3-Row (Single Motor FWD)
- Base Price: $54,100
- Range: 251 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 188
- Torque: 284 lb-ft
- 0-60: 8.5 sec
- Weight: 4,642 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
Adding the third-row seat to the base EQB 250+ costs $1,250, which strikes us as quite reasonable. The problem remains the EQB 250+ itself — its acceleration and DC charging speed just aren't competitive.
3. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $57,200
- Range: 205 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 225
- Torque: 288 lb-ft
- 0-60: 7.6 sec
- Weight: 4,796 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
Although the dual-motor EQB 300 4MATIC accelerates marginally quicker than the base single-motor EQB 250+, the latter gives you far more driving range, which is arguably the most important thing in an EV. We simply can't recommend the EQB 300 — its 205-mile range rating is not competitive in the market, and its acceleration is underwhelming too.
4. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $58,450
- Range: 205 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 225
- Torque: 288 lb-ft
- 0-60: 7.6 sec
- Weight: 4,796 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The third-row seat adds a reasonable $1,250 to the EQB 300's bottom line, but the acceleration and especially the range remain unreasonable for a current EV.
5. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $60,850
- Range: 207 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 288
- Torque: 384 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 4,838 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The top-of-the-line EQB 350 4MATIC is the only EQB that's class-competitive in terms of acceleration, or at least not too far off the pace. However, its amped-up dual motors draw from the same 70.5-kWh battery pack as the rest of the EQB models, so the range is abysmal by today's standards. Consider that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N offers 14 more miles of range while more than doubling the EQB 350's power output — that's how far behind this Benz is.
6. 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC 3-Row (Dual Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $62,100
- Range: 207 mi
- Battery Capacity: 70.5 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 100 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 288
- Torque: 384 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 4,838 lbs
- Length: 184.4 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The optional third seating row only tacks on $1,250, as is the case with the other EQB models. Problem is, you're stuck with barely 200 miles of range whether you get that seat or not.
