What's New for 2025?
The EV6 gets a significant refresh this year that includes new styling outside, bigger batteries that yield slightly better range (although the resultant weight gain cancels any acceleration improvement), and an upgrade to NACS charging compatibility. Of note for tax-credit purposes, all EV6 models except for the high-performance GT are now assembled stateside at Kia's plant in West Point, Georgia.

Is the 2025 Kia EV6 a Good SUV?
"Like its Hyundai Ioniq 5 platform-mate, the Kia EV6 is refreshed for 2025 and continues to be a well-rounded compact electric SUV, offering competitive range and performance along with pleasingly up-to-date technology. You can see at a glance that the Kia puts more emphasis on a sporty look and feel, which means less cargo capacity and a more cockpit-like vibe inside. Nonetheless, it broadly shares the Ioniq 5's speedy peak charge rates and bladder-bursting range estimates. We tip our cap to Hyundai/Kia for offering such clearly differentiated products using the same platform (GM, for example, has struggled to do so with the Equinox EV and Blazer EV). Subjectively, we prefer the EV6's racy mood, but the Hyundai hits more objective targets for SUV shoppers."—Ranked #3 out of 12 Compact Electric SUVs

1. 2025 Kia EV6 Standard Range RWD
- Base Price: $42,900
- Range: 237 mi
- Battery Capacity: 63.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 180 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 167
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 8.3 sec
- Weight: 4,132 lbs
- Length: 184.8 in
- Towing Capacity: N/A
The entry-level EV6 Standard Range, or "EV6 Light" in Kia's parlance, is the only EV6 with the smaller 63-kWh battery. That's why it makes the least power in the EV6 family and has the lowest range, too, aside from the speed-first EV6 GT. We wouldn't seriously consider this particular configuration; you're far better off demanding the larger battery and making your decision from there.
2. 2025 Kia EV6 Long Range RWD
- Base Price: $46,200
- Range: 319 mi
- Battery Capacity: 84.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 240 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 225
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 7.3 sec
- Weight: 4,398 lbs
- Length: 184.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 2,700 lbs
The way we see it, range is so important for EV buyers that most other numbers pale by comparison, even gaudy acceleration stats. That's why the EV6 Long Range RWD — which is available in Light, Wind or GT-Line trim — is our pick in this lineup. To be clear, we wouldn't pick it if it didn't have satisfactory acceleration, but we'd say 0-60 in 7.3 seconds is quick enough for most tastes, especially given the instant-on torque of the electric motor. Now consider the luxury of the Long Range RWD's 319 miles of range, which is easily the highest rating of any EV6.
3. 2025 Kia EV6 Long Range AWD
- Base Price: $50,300
- Range: 295 mi
- Battery Capacity: 84.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 240 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 320
- Torque: 446 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.0 sec
- Weight: 4,630 lbs
- Length: 184.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 2,700 lbs
Although our top EV6 pick is the Long Range RWD, the Long Range AWD is a close second because it adds a lot of acceleration if you're willing to give up 24 miles of range. That 295-mile total is only available in Light or Wind trim, however, because those are the ones that come with 19-inch wheels. If you opt for the pricier EV6 GT-Line with its 20-inch wheels, you'll drop down to 270 miles of range, so no matter how much you love the look of the 20s, try to keep that penalty in mind.
4. 2025 Kia EV6 GT
- Base Price: $63,800
- Range: 231 mi
- Battery Capacity: 84.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 240 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 576
- Torque: 545 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Weight: 4,883 lbs
- Length: 184.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 2,700 lbs
The GT's performance is awesome, hands down. We just wish it had a little more range, because while it does gain 13 miles for 2025, it's still near the bottom of the heap among rivals with its 231-mile estimate. In the real world, you'll struggle to see 200 miles between charges. That's great if you're bombing around town most of the time, but it certainly limits your flexibility compared to many other EVs in today's market.
