What's New for 2025?
The Hummer EV SUV gets a slight price hike but is otherwise unchanged. Note that the EPA has adjusted its range estimates so that the tri-motor 3X (312 miles) now trails the base dual-motor 2X (315 miles), which makes more sense than the 3X's 11-mile advantage last year (314 vs 303).

Is the 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV a Good SUV?
"The Hummer EV is all about excess, which makes its 300-plus-mile range ratings even more impressive. This rig is an impressive engineering feat, even if its prodigious mass and pricing mean it's not for everyone. Go all-out for the '3X' tri-motor spec — why wouldn't you? — and you can launch to 60 mph in about three and a half seconds whenever the mood strikes, which is truly absurd for a 4.5-ton SUV. Thanks to the enormous 170-kWh battery, you'll still have an EPA-rated 314 miles of range on a full charge despite that incredible performance potential. Wow, right? Just wow."—Ranked #4 out of 7 Premium Luxury Electric SUVs
Which 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV Should I Buy?

1. 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV 2X (Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $98,845
- Range: 315 mi
- Battery Capacity: 170.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 350 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 570
- Torque: N/A
- Length: 206.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 10,000 lbs
The entry-level Hummer EV SUV gives you two motors and a mere 570 horsepower, which actually isn't that much for a four-ton (give or take) vehicle. If you're prepared to drop six figures on an electric SUV, you might as well step up to the tri-motor 3X, which has far more power and gets essentially the same range. The only notable advantage the 2X enjoys, other than its lower base price, is more towing capacity by a healthy 2,500 pounds.
2. 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV 3X (Tri-Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $106,945
- Range: 312 mi
- Battery Capacity: 170.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 350 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3 electric motors
- Horsepower: 830
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Weight: 8,660 lbs
- Length: 206.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 7,500 lbs
Because the Hummer EV SUV's wheelbase is about 10 inches shorter than the EV Pickup's, it doesn't have room for the latter's optional "24-module" battery upgrade. That means all Hummer EV SUVs come with the standard 20-module, 170-kWh battery, which is why the SUV's range maxes out at 315 miles (312 miles for the 3X spec discussed here) while the Pickup can stretch to about 380. It's also why the SUV tops out at 830 horsepower while the Pickup gets to 1,000 hp with the bigger battery.
