Is the 2025 Dodge Hornet R/T (Plug-In Hybrid) a Good SUV?
"Closer to the RAV4 PHEV in length than to the Niro PHEV, the subcompact Hornet R/T is a decent fit for this class, and its performance is plenty impressive at a glance. You get nearly 300 horsepower in this pint-sized PHEV, plus a generous 33 miles of electric range and a healthy 29 mpg combined in hybrid mode. So why isn't it ranked higher? Because on the road, the Hornet lacks the refined driving character that could help justify its $40k-plus pricing. It feels tall and narrow from behind the wheel, and its suspension admits too much impact harshness into the cabin. It's also space-deprived in the second row and cargo area. We'd feel more affection for this rebadged Alfa Romeo Tonale if it were significantly cheaper, but it seems like more of a misfit at Dodge's asking price."—Ranked #9 out of 9 Compact Plug-In-Hybrid SUVs

The plug-in-hybrid Hornet R/T's claim to fame is that 33-mile electric driving range. That's mileage you can really use — if you keep your Hornet PHEV plugged in when you're not using it, you could conceivably go months between gas tank refills. Aside from that aspect, the base Hornet GT is a better value. The R/T costs $10k more and provides essentially the same acceleration.
