Scroll to:
1. 2024 BMW X3 sDrive30i (2.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $46,900
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 248
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.0 sec
- Weight: 4,079 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,400 lbs
For folks in more temperate climates, the rear-wheel-drive X3 sDrive30i makes a lot of sense. It's more fuel-efficient than the xDrive30i and a bit cheaper, too.
2. 2024 BMW X3 xDrive30i (2.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $48,900
- MPG Combined: 24
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 248
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.0 sec
- Weight: 4,149 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,400 lbs
Adding all-wheel drive doesn't hurt the X3's fuel economy very much, and acceleration is unchanged per BMW. It's a sensible $2k upgrade if you think you'll need that extra traction at times.
3. 2024 BMW X3 M40i (3.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $61,900
- MPG Combined: 23
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 382
- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.4 sec
- Weight: 4,392 lbs
- Length: 185.9 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,400 lbs
The all-wheel-drive X3 M40i is arguably the best all-around value in the X3 lineup. You could go cheaper, but you'd miss out on the M40i's all-world B58 six-cylinder engine that works magic pretty much wherever it goes. You could also spend a lot more for the X3 M, but it's got a turbo inline-6 as well, so the question becomes, do you really need to get to 60 mph quicker than the M40i's 4.4-second sprint?
4. 2024 BMW X3 M
- Base Price: $75,500
- MPG Combined: 17
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 473
- Torque: 457 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.9 sec
- Weight: 4,610 lbs
- Length: 186.0 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,400 lbs
The X3 M gets to 60 mph half a second quicker than the X3 M40i, which uses a lesser version of BMW's superb turbo inline-6 engine. Is that half-second worth an extra $15k or so? We think not, but you could also argue that $15k is a bargain for the X3 M's sheer madness.
5. 2024 BMW X3 M Competition
- Base Price: $82,500
- MPG Combined: 17
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 503
- Torque: 479 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.7 sec
- Weight: 4,610 lbs
- Length: 186.0 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,400 lbs
Add the Competition Package and you'll have a smallish SUV with 503 horsepower, which is something you don't see every day (unless perhaps you live in LA). For $7k, that almost seems like a good deal. If you're gonna spring for the X3 M, why stop at the base model?
