Is the 2025 BMW M2 a Good Car?
"Closely related to the M4, the M2 gives its big brother a run for its money thanks to almost identical performance and a snugger, more sportscar-like feel. For our money, you can't beat the far cheaper and nearly as capable M240i, but we can understand wanting to go whole-hog with the widebody M2's brashness."—Ranked #1 out of 5 Compact High-Performance Coupes

The automatic M2 is a hard sell over the M240i, as their powertrains are very similar on paper. Sure, the M2's output numbers are gaudier, but the M240i's overachieving B58 turbo six makes it almost as quick to 60 mph. Stay on it through the quarter-mile and the M2 will reign supreme, but does that make it special enough to justify the extra spend?
2. 2025 BMW M2 Manual Transmission
- Base Price: $68,200
- MPG Combined: 19
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 6-speed manual
- Horsepower: 473
- Torque: 406 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 3,814 lbs

It's awesome that you can still get a manual in the M2, especially since a stick is no longer offered on the regular 2 Series. BMW was even kind enough to make it a no-cost option. We otherwise have a hard time recommending the M2 over the cheaper and nearly-as-awesome M240i, but is the M2 worth the stretch to get that stick? Of course it is.
