What's New for 2025?
Topping the list is a new widescreen curved display, which pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. The result is a very different and more contemporary look inside for the 2 Series. The other changes are relatively minor, including standard M Sport styling cues (larger front air intakes, more prominent body-color side skirts and a special rear apron with a gloss-black "diffuser-like insert"). The M240i throws in additional gloss-black accents, an exclusive rear spoiler and trapezoidal tailpipes.

Is the 2025 BMW 2 Series a Good Car?
"The 2 Series is our favorite BMW coupe precisely because of its borderline subcompact dimensions, which make it feel small and sporty like certain BMWs of yesteryear. Pitted against the larger 4 Series, it takes the fun-to-drive category easily while broadly matching its larger sibling in refinement and features. It's also an intriguing alternative to everything from sports cars to sport compact cars — that's how broad its skill set is. Moreover, at roughly $41k to start, it's an exceptional value."—Ranked #1 out of 4 Compact Luxury Coupes
Which 2025 BMW 2 Series Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 BMW 2 Series that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
Scroll to:
1. 2025 BMW 2 Series 230i (2.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $41,200
- MPG Combined: 30
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 255
- Torque: 295 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.5 sec
- Weight: 3,446 lbs
- Length: 179.0 in
The entry-level 230i coupe is regrettably not available with a manual transmission, but if you're cool with an automatic (as most folks are), you'll probably love the 230i's all-around excellence.
2. 2025 BMW 2 Series 230i xDrive (2.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $43,200
- MPG Combined: 28
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 255
- Torque: 295 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.3 sec
- Weight: 3,594 lbs
- Length: 179.0 in
As is typical with BMWs, adding all-wheel drive to the 230i doesn't hurt fuel economy much, so it's more about personal preference. We'd save a couple grand and go with rear-wheel drive, but you can't go wrong here.
3. 2025 BMW 2 Series M240i (3.0T Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $52,700
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 382
- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 3,748 lbs
- Length: 179.4 in
The M240i is powered by BMW's fabulous "B58" turbocharged inline-6 engine, which might be all you need to know. It's one of the finest engines on the market today, full stop, and it's remarkably fuel-efficient for how powerful it is.
4. 2025 BMW 2 Series M240i xDrive (3.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $54,700
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 382
- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 3,871 lbs
- Length: 179.4 in
Adding all-wheel drive doesn't affect the M240i's fuel economy one iota, so this is a guilt-free option in case you find it appealing. We'd rather skip the weight gain, but you can't go wrong here.
