What's New for 2025?
Surprise! The A5 model name no longer attaches to a coupe or convertible, like it did as recently as 2024. Going forward, Audi will use it for this new hatchback sedan, which effectively replaces both the A4 sedan and the A5 Sportback. Got all that? Anyway, just think of the new A5 is Audi's answer to both the BMW 3 Series (which the A4 previously competed against) and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe (the A5 Sportback's old nemesis).

Is the 2025 Audi A5 a Good Car?
"Replacing both the venerable A4 sedan and the A5 Sportback, the A5 sensibly borrows the latter's hatchback design, because who wouldn't want a lot more cargo-hauling versatility? Mechanically, the A5 is quite similar to both of its predecessors, pairing an impeccably refined 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (there's also an S5 variant with a sweet turbocharged V6). Inside is where the A5 really raises the bar, boasting a screen-tastic dashboard that may seem like tech overload, especially if you get the Prestige trim with its separate 10.9-inch passenger display. Overall, the A5 is a dignified and well-rounded competitor, but take a close look at the fuel economy, which isn't close to class-leading."—Ranked #3 out of 8 Compact Luxury Sedans
