- Supple air suspension soaks up bumps

What's New for 2025?
An entry-level Long Range RWD model joins the lineup with a bit more range than the others, but little else in its favor. One thing to keep an eye on is the Range Extender backup battery option, which has been available for preorder and carries an estimated cost of $16,000. Said to add between 120-130 miles to the Cybertruck's range, it would theoretically eliminate the current electric-truck range gap between Tesla and GM/Rivian. But as with all things Tesla, we'll believe it when we see it, and no one has seen it yet.

Is the 2025 Tesla Cybertruck a Good Truck?
"As amazed as we are that Tesla's engineers managed to equip this triangle-on-wheels with impressive acceleration, handling and ride comfort, we'd be remiss not to point out that both the Rivian and the GM twins (Silverado EV and Sierra EV) offer far more range than the Cybertruck. That will change when Tesla starts shipping the Cybertruck's Range Extender battery pack, but you can't have it yet, so the range gap persists. In any case, the craziest thing about the Cybertruck is that it's genuinely good to drive. It also has a handy cargo bed that rivals the GM twins for longest in this segment."—Ranked #5 out of 6 Electric Trucks

1. 2025 Tesla Cybertruck Long Range RWD
- Base Price: $69,900
- Range: 362 mi
- Battery Capacity: 123.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 325 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 315
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 6.2 sec
- Weight: 6,118 lbs
- Length: 223.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 7,500 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 2,006 lbs
The entry-level Cybertruck Long Range RWD does offer the most range in the lineup, but there's a catch — you need to pay $750 extra for the optional soft tonneau cover, and you also have to stick with the base 18-inch wheels. Skip the tonneau cover and you'll drop to 350 miles with the 18s, or 331 miles with the optional 20s, which come shod with all-terrain tires. The power-operated hard tonneau cover that's standard on the other Cybertrucks is simply unavailable here, and you also lose a lot of power and a substantial amount of towing and payload capacity. Oh, and the suspension is an ordinary one, not the nifty adaptive air suspension on the fancier trims. If you ask us, the Cybertruck is an all-or-nothing proposition. Go big or go home; don't settle for this base model.
2. 2025 Tesla Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD
- Base Price: $79,990
- Range: 325 mi
- Battery Capacity: 123.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 325 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 600
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 6,634 lbs
- Length: 223.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 2,500 lbs
Leaving aside the subject of style, we gotta admit that the dual-motor Cybertruck delivers some righteous numbers. Adding the all-terrain tires is tempting, as they use 20-inch rims, just like the base tires, and they only give up 11 miles of range, per Tesla's estimates. It's a solid middle ground, but the Cyberbeast gets virtually the same range estimates with a whole 'nother motor on board, so we'd be sorely tempted to go for the gold here.
3. 2025 Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast (Tri-Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $99,990
- Range: 320 mi
- Battery Capacity: 123.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 325 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3 electric motors
- Horsepower: 845
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 2.6 sec
- Weight: 6,898 lbs
- Length: 223.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 11,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 2,500 lbs
Like rival automaker Rivian, Tesla excels at providing way more performance in its faster models without giving up much range. The Cyberbeast continues this tradition, adding 245 horsepower and chopping a second and a half off the dual-motor model's 0-60 sprint while only losing 5 miles of range. If you opt for the all-terrain tires, however, the range estimate drops to 301 miles versus 314 miles for the dual-motor truck with the chunkier tires. Anyway, bottom line, the Cyberbeast lives up to the name. You just can't have the crazy-long range that its GM and Rivian rivals deliver.
