What's New for 2025?
There aren't any changes per se this year, just fewer choices. The 2 used to be available in Single Motor, Dual Motor, or Dual Motor Performance Pack specification, but the first two are no longer offered as of this writing. That means you can only have the 2 in the most expensive and most powerful configuration with the least range. Hopefully this will change as the year goes on, because it greatly limits this car's appeal.

Is the 2025 Polestar 2 a Good Car?
"The Polestar 2 straddles this segment and Compact Luxury Electric SUVs as a high-riding sedan with a hatchback trunk. That trunk provides SUV-lite versatility, while the elevated ride height checks an important box for many SUV shoppers. But the 2's most direct rival is the Tesla Model 3, which is why it's especially disappointing that the Polestar is only available in Performance Pack trim for 2025 — that's the priciest version with the least range, whereas the Model 3 seemingly just keeps getting cheaper. We’re big fans of the broader Polestar 2 lineup, which used to include a single motor RWD version with easy 300-mile range at a much lower price, and we still love the Volvo-adjacent styling (Polestar was formerly a unit of Volvo). But the 2025 model is hampered by a lack of consumer choice."—Ranked #3 out of 3 Compact Luxury Electric Cars
Which 2025 Polestar 2 Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. There's only one standalone version of the 2025 Polestar 2, and here it is, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
2025 Polestar 2 Dual Motor AWD Performance Pack
- Base Price: $64,800
- Range: 254 mi
- Battery Capacity: 78.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 205 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 455
- Torque: 546 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.0 sec
- Weight: 4,740 lbs
- Length: 181.3 in
The all-wheel-drive Performance Pack adds 34 horsepower compared to the regular Polestar 2 AWD, but it doesn't add any torque, and it does take a bite out of the range rating. It's also the most expensive version of the 2 — and for reasons that escape us, Polestar has decided to make it the only available version for 2025. Given that range is top of mind for most EV shoppers, we're especially surprised that the single-motor Polestar 2 with its 320-mile range estimate isn't offered this year. The Performance Pack version is certainly sports-car quick and fun to drive, but it's hard to make a case for it knowing that range is king in this class.
