What's New for 2025?
The more powerful CX-90 S gets a price hike of about $3k this year, putting it well over the $50k threshold. Mazda holds the line pricing-wise on the standard CX-90 and the plug-in hybrid, however. Minor equipment changes include a new Premium Sport trim level with various "blackout" styling flourishes, while the wider 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto now comes standard on every CX-90 except the base Select trim.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 a Good SUV?
"The CX-90 is one of those vehicles that sound great in theory, especially if you like to drive. How could Mazda go wrong with turbocharged inline-6 power — just like a BMW! — and upscale furnishings in a family-friendly three-row package? That inline-6 has delivered slower acceleration times than its specs would predict, however, and it doesn't exactly sound like a BMW six, either. We could do without the awkward bulge at the rear of the roofline, too, and we'd note that the bulge doesn't stop the third row from being snug. But enough of our kvetching. The CX-90 does enjoy Mazda's typical edge in driving dynamics, and in case you're less than thrilled by that inline-6, there's also a plug-in-hybrid CX-90 that gives you 26 miles of electric range and gets to 60 mph a few tenths sooner than the regular model. We genuinely like this Mazda overall, even if the gap between theory and practice is a bit wider than we'd prefer."—Ranked #5 out of 15 Midsize 3-Row SUVs

1. 2025 Mazda CX-90 3.3T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $37,845
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.3-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 280
- Torque: 332 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,709 lbs
- Length: 200.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 5,000 lbs
The base CX-90 delivers three-row versatility and turbocharged six-cylinder power for well under $40k to start.
2. 2025 Mazda CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid (2.5 AWD)
- Base Price: $49,945
- MPG Combined: 25
- EV Range: 26 mi
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic

- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.9 sec
- Weight: 5,243 lbs
- Length: 200.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs
As with the nearly identical CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, we're confused by the CX-90 PHEV's limited electric range (25 miles isn't much these days) and modest 25-mpg fuel economy. The regular CX-90 with the turbo inline-6 gives you 25 mpg combined as well and costs far less.
3. 2025 Mazda CX-90 3.3T S All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $52,950
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.3-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 340
- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.3 sec
- Weight: 4,899 lbs
- Length: 200.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 5,000 lbs
Despite its high-output turbocharged inline-6 engine, the CX-90 "S" doesn't deliver exceptional acceleration, but its fuel economy is quite good.
