What's New for 2025?
The CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid debuts this year as essentially a CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid with two rows of seats rather than three. It's got the same dimensions outside and the same powertrain under the hood, so you get to choose whether you want the extra seating row or not.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid a Good SUV?
"The CX-70 PHEV won't knock your socks off with its 26 miles of electric range, but if you think about it, that's most of your local errands, right? Just plug it in overnight and you might not need gas for weeks, if not months. Just be aware that the CX-70 is rather long for a midsize SUV, and you don't get a ton of cargo space despite that length. It's not cheap, either."—Ranked #2 out of 2 Midsize Plug-In-Hybrid SUVs
Which 2025 Mazda CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. There's only one standalone version of the 2025 Mazda CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, and here it is, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
2025 Mazda CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid (2.5 AWD)
- Base Price: $54,400
- EV Range: 26 mi
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 323
- Torque: 369 lb-ft

The CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid offers a rather measly 25 miles of all-electric range, but on the bright side, there's plenty of power. Also disappointing, however, is the CX-70 PHEV's EPA estimate of 25 mpg combined, which is exactly the number that the non-hybrid CX-70 models are rated at.
