1. 2024 Lexus LC 500 Coupe (5.0 10-Speed Automatic)
- Base Price: $98,450
- MPG Combined: 18
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.0-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 471
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.4 sec
- Weight: 4,340 lbs
- Length: 187.4 in
It's noteworthy that the LC 500 uses the exact same V8 engine as the IS 500 sedan and RC F coupe, even though those models cost tens of thousands less. Some will wish that Lexus had made the flagship LC's engine more special; others will be too smitten by the avant-garde styling and the sweet V8 burble to care.
2. 2024 Lexus LC 500h (3.5 Hybrid)
- Base Price: $101,750
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.5-liter V6
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: Automatic
- Horsepower: 354
- Torque: N/A
- 0-60: 4.7 sec
- Weight: 4,420 lbs
- Length: 187.4 in
The hybrid-powered LC 500h looks almost as quick as the V8-powered LC 500 on paper, but in the real world the 500h feels significantly slower. Part of that is down to the slurry responses of the hybrid-specific transmission; another factor is the tendency of that transmission to hold the engine speed constant during acceleration like a CVT. In any case, the LC 500h is ultimately one of those cars that looks sportier than it is — kind of like the BMW i8 — although the fuel economy is undeniably impressive.
3. 2024 Lexus LC 500 Convertible (5.0 10-Speed Automatic)
- Base Price: $105,950
- MPG Combined: 18
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.0-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 471
- Torque: 398 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.6 sec
- Weight: 4,540 lbs
- Length: 187.4 in
Well, there's hardly any trunk space and most rivals offer better acceleration, but isn't the LC 500 Convertible pretty? That V8 is a great engine in its own right, by the way, even if the numbers don't bear that out by today's standards.
