FAST FACTS
2026 Honda Passport
Rank
- #3 in Midsize SUVs
Pros
- Spacious interior for both passengers and cargo
- Improved touchscreen makes the Passport more competitive on tech
- Strong acceleration from turbo-free V6 engine
Cons
- Unimpressive fuel economy
- One of the highest starting prices in its class
What's New for 2026?
The Passport gets a stem-to-stern redesign this year, highlighted by squarer styling, slightly enlarged dimensions (unfortunately including about 250 extra pounds) and a new interior with a much larger 12.3-inch touchscreen. The naturally aspirated V6 engine is little changed, however, although it does upgrade to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Oddly, the fuel tank is a full gallon smaller for 2026, and with fuel economy being essentially the same as last year, that means less range. Not surprisingly, the Passport's starting price has risen by almost $3k.

Is the 2026 Honda Passport a Good SUV?
"Redesigned for the 2026 model year, the square-shouldered Passport is arguably more stylish than ever, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen inside addresses the previous Passport's main technological shortcoming. The new model is also slightly larger, adding 2.7 inches in the wheelbase column and 2.4 inches from nose to tail. That opens up appreciably more cargo space, but there's also a weight gain of about 250 pounds to contend with, and the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 only gets 5 extra horsepower. The Passport's fuel economy, moreover, is essentially unchanged and remains underwhelming despite the substitution of a 10-speed automatic transmission for the previous 9-speed unit. Sporting one of the highest base prices of any non-luxury midsize SUV, this Honda has its work cut out to convince you, but we rate it highly because of its appealing looks, broad skill set and excellent resale value."—Ranked #3 out of 9 Midsize SUVs
Which 2026 Honda Passport Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. There's only one standalone version of the 2026 Honda Passport, and here it is, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
2026 Honda Passport 3.5 All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $44,750
- MPG Combined: 21
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.5-liter V6
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 285
- Torque: 262 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,478 lbs
- Length: 191.5 in
- Towing Capacity: 5,000 lbs
The latest Passport generation, redesigned for 2026, is measurably larger in most dimensions. That unfortunately includes its weight, which has ballooned by about 250 pounds. Still, the largely carryover naturally aspirated V6 provides snappy acceleration with no concern about turbo lag, and Honda's slightly upsized midsizer should be even better at doing midsize-SUV things, among them hauling passengers and cargo.
