Which 2024 GMC Terrain Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2024 GMC Terrain that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2024 GMC Terrain 1.5T Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $28,700
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 1.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 175
- Torque: 203 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,419 lbs
- Length: 182.3 in
- Towing Capacity: 1,500 lbs
Although the Terrain is fundamentally just a rebadged Chevy Equinox, it does have one notable trick up its sleeve: The automatic transmission is a 9-speed unit, whereas the Equinox makes do with a 6-speed. So you theoretically get a significant upgrade in return for paying GMC's slightly higher prices. It may only be a theory, though, because in practice, the Equinox tops out at 30 mpg highway with the lesser transmission, while the Terrain gets 29 mpg.
2. 2024 GMC Terrain 1.5T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $30,300
- MPG Combined: 25
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 1.5-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 175
- Torque: 203 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,576 lbs
- Length: 182.3 in
- Towing Capacity: 1,500 lbs
Adding AWD costs you one mile per gallon, which seems reasonable for the extra peace of mind.
