FAST FACTS
2025 GMC Sierra EV
Rank
- #4 in Electric Trucks
Pros
- Incredible range, especially for a massive truck
- Almost-as-incredible acceleration
- Classy interior with cutting-edge technology
Cons
- Exorbitant starting price makes it more of a plaything for the privileged few than an electric truck for the masses
What's New for 2025?
Following its limited debut last year, the Sierra EV broadens its lineup to include a base "Extended Range" battery model alongside the existing "Max Range" version. We appreciate the attempt to diversify, but the Max Range is clearly the one to have.

Is the 2025 GMC Sierra EV a Good Truck?
"Like its Chevy Silverado EV twin, the Sierra EV impresses with its extraordinary combination of huge horsepower and eye-popping range that extends well over 400 miles. There aren't many vehicles that can make Rivian's range seem pedestrian, but this GMC is one of them. Of course, the price tag is huge, too, but you do get the abovementioned strengths plus a comfortable, luxuriously appointed cabin and a legitimately trucky six-foot cargo bed."—Ranked #4 out of 6 Electric Trucks
Which 2025 GMC Sierra EV Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 GMC Sierra EV that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali (Extended Range)
- Base Price: $89,900
- Range: 390 mi
- Battery Capacity: 170.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 300 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 645
- Torque: 785 lb-ft
- Length: 233.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 10,000 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,400 lbs
The Sierra EV Denali "Extended Range" is actually the base model — there's no Standard Range or some such. GMC wants to make the point that even the cheapest (a relative term) Sierra EV has incredible range for a truck, or really any EV these days. That's a fair point, but we can't imagine settling for the Extended Range battery and its reduced performance when the Max Range unit is there for the taking. If you're bringing enough money to get into the base Sierra EV, just bring a little more and enjoy the full potential of this platform.
2. 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali (Max Range)
- Base Price: $98,400
- Range: 460 mi
- Battery Capacity: 205.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 350 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 760
- Torque: 785 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.4 sec
- Length: 233.1 in
- Towing Capacity: 10,500 lbs
- Payload Capacity: 1,400 lbs
The Sierra EV Denali Max Range goes all out, which is probably what you want if you're in the market for one of these incredible machines. Why stop at the Extended Range battery pack when the Max Range gives you not only more range (obviously), but also far more power and torque. You get even faster DC charging, too, although that's kind of academic when you're talking about the difference between 300 kW and 350 kW. Anyway, the Sierra EV is a mind-blowing electric truck, but it really needs the Max Range battery to be its best self. Don't buy a Sierra EV without it.
