What's New for 2025?
The 2025 Tahoe's refreshed front fascia might escape notice unless you know to look for the new headlights, which are set within the zig-zag running lights and no longer reside at the top of the grille. Less subtle are the newly available 24-inch — yes, 24-inch — wheels. Inside, the central touchscreen grows to 17.7 inches yet still looks nicely integrated on the dashboard, while under the hood a revamped turbodiesel inline-6 makes 28 more horsepower and 35 more lb-ft of torque. Prices are up across the board, including what looks like a huge increase for that optional diesel as of this writing.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe a Good SUV?
"The Tahoe has become a go-to choice for many families because it just doesn't have many weaknesses. Select the optional torque-rich turbodiesel inline-6 and you'll get impressive fuel economy, too. It's a new diesel engine for 2025, by the way, with appreciably more power and torque. The 2025 Tahoe also gets refreshed exterior styling and a new 17.7-inch touchscreen that gives the front interior a fully contemporary flavor."—Ranked #1 out of 6 Full-Size SUVs
Which 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.

1. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $58,500
- MPG Combined: 17
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.3-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 383 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,509 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,400 lbs
You may not be aware that the Tahoe shares its platform and general dimensions with the Escalade, so the base rear-drive Tahoe can be understood as a 'Slade on the cheap, even though it's far from cheap (and the Chevy utilizes a smaller 5.3-liter V8).
2. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $61,500
- MPG Combined: 17
- Drive Type: Four-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.3-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 383 lb-ft
- 0-60: 7.5 sec
- Weight: 5,705 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,200 lbs
You might as well spend the $3k and get 4WD, right? Seems like a good value and a no-brainer to us, especially since fuel economy is not materially affected.
3. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 3.0T Diesel Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $67,195 (est.)
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 305
- Torque: 495 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,686 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,200 lbs
The Tahoe diesel's fuel economy is frankly incredible for an SUV with a curb weight pushing three tons. We're suckers for that low-end torque, too, but the price premium might give us pause.
4. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 3.0T Diesel Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $70,270 (est.)
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 305
- Torque: 495 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,882 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,000 lbs
Adding 4WD to the Tahoe Diesel still leaves you with incredible fuel economy for a three-ton bruiser.
5. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 6.2 Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $71,010
- MPG Combined: 17
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 420
- Torque: 460 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.0 sec
- Weight: 5,681 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,200 lbs
If you want the 6.2-liter V8 in your Tahoe, you'll have to step up to at least the RST, a sport-oriented trim level that boosts the base price considerably. But there's no doubt that the 6.2 unlocks a different level of performance, so if that's a priority for you, it'll be money well spent.
6. 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe 6.2 Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $74,805
- MPG Combined: 16
- Drive Type: Four-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 420
- Torque: 460 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.0 sec
- Weight: 5,877 lbs
- Length: 210.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,100 lbs
Pairing 4WD with the 6.2-liter V8 means stepping up to at least the off-roady Z71, which is the cheapest 6.2/4WD configuration by a hair compared to the sporty RST. Any way you slice it, a Tahoe 4x4 with the 6.2 will likely have a price well into the $80s if not the $90s, but the fact that this configuration is basically an Escalade with a bowtie badge might ease the sticker shock.
