What's New for 2025?
The 2025 Suburban gets a styling refresh that includes a new front fascia, although it's subtle (look for the new headlights set within the zig-zag running lights). Less subtle are the newly available 24-inch wheels, and yes, you read that right. Inside, the central touchscreen grows to 17.7 inches and looks quite nice, while under the hood you can specify a revamped turbodiesel inline-6 that makes 28 more horsepower and 35 more lb-ft of torque. Prices are up across the board, including what looks like a huge increase for the diesel option based on available information.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban a Good SUV?
"Chevy's been doing work in this specialized segment for longer than anyone, and today's Suburban reflects that experience. It's hard to go wrong with any Suburban configuration unless you don't have a big-enough place to park it. Notable upgrades for 2025 include exterior styling tweaks, a thoroughly modern 17.7-inch touchscreen and a new turbodiesel inline-6 that makes 28 more hp and 35 more lb-ft of torque."—Ranked #1 out of 4 Full-Size Extra-Long SUVs

1. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3 Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $61,500
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.3-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 383 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,680 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,200 lbs
It's interesting to compare the base Suburban 5.3 to the base Tahoe 5.3. The Suburban only costs a few grand more, but it gives you a larger fuel tank, more thrid-row legroom, the option of nine-passenger seating, and of course more cargo space.
2. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3 Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $64,500
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Four-wheel drive
- Engine: 5.3-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 383 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,873 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,000 lbs
Adding 4WD to the Suburban 5.3 drives up the price while lowering fuel economy, but if you think you'll use 4WD at some point, it's an easy upgrade to justify.
3. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 3.0T Diesel Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $70,195 (est.)
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 305
- Torque: 495 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,859 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,100 lbs
The Suburban shines when equipped with the optional turbodiesel inline-6, but it doesn't come cheap. The fuel economy is astounding for an elephantine SUV, though, and the low-end torque is deeply satisfying.
4. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 3.0T Diesel Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $73,270 (est.)
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Four-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter inline-6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 305
- Torque: 495 lb-ft
- Weight: 6,053 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 7,800 lbs
Eclipsing the three-ton mark, the 4WD Suburban Diesel still gives you mid-20s mpg on the highway, which is astonishing for such a brute. If we wanted a Suburban, we'd go diesel all day every day, provided we could stomach the price premium.
5. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 6.2 Rear-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $74,010
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 420
- Torque: 460 lb-ft
- Weight: 5,858 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 8,000 lbs
If you want the fastest Suburban, this is it, but Chevy makes you spring for at least the sporty RST package to get the big 6.2-liter V8 — that's why the starting price is so high.
6. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban 6.2 Four-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $77,805
- MPG Combined: N/A
- Drive Type: Four-wheel drive
- Engine: 6.2-liter V8
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 420
- Torque: 460 lb-ft
- Weight: 6,051 lbs
- Length: 225.7 in
- Towing Capacity: 7,900 lbs
Adding 4WD to your 6.2-liter Suburban means you need at least the sporty RST package, but if you want the top gas-powered spec, this is where you'll be looking.
