The base Blazer 2.0T is worth considering if all the small SUVs on the market seem too small to you. Measuring a little over half a foot longer than the Honda CR-V, the Blazer gives you the feel of a bigger SUV without sacrificing the agility of a smaller one.
All-wheel drive bumps up the Blazer's weight by more than 200 pounds and knocks its fuel economy down a peg, so it's worth considering whether you really need it.
We like the Blazer's optional V6 engine for its powerful acceleration and revvy character, but it does catapult the Blazer into luxury territory pricewise.
We're not sure what the Blazer's AWD system is made out of, but it adds a lot of extra weight — about 300 pounds in this case. Acceleration is strong, but fuel economy is relatively poor, and the price point is high enough that you could explore a number of luxury SUVs as well.
