Is the 2025 BMW i7 a Good Car?
"The i7's styling is an assault on the senses, for better or worse, but it certainly has the range, room and thrust to compete against the world's best in this category. Like its EQS rival, though, the i7 doesn't impress when it comes to charge speed, and its sheer bulk keeps its range and acceleration well shy of the jaw-dropping heights achieved by the cheaper Lucid Air and Tesla Model S."—Ranked #1 out of 2 Full-Size Luxury Electric Cars
Which 2025 BMW i7 Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 BMW i7 that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
1. 2025 BMW i7 eDrive50 (RWD)
- Base Price: $105,700
- Range: 314 mi
- Battery Capacity: 105.7 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 195 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 449
- Torque: 549 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.3 sec
- Weight: 5,917 lbs
- Length: 212.2 in
The i7 eDrive50 generates big power from its single electric motor and can deliver well over 300 miles per charge. Given the eye-popping range estimates of other top-shelf electric sedans, however, we're not particularly impressed.
2. 2025 BMW i7 xDrive60 (AWD)
- Base Price: $124,200
- Range: 311 mi
- Battery Capacity: 105.7 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 195 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 536
- Torque: 549 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 5,917 lbs
- Length: 212.2 in
Compared to the rear-drive eDrive50, the all-wheel-drive i7 xDrive60 gets to 60 mph a lot sooner and barely loses any range. That's enough winning to make the xDrive60's elevated price go down easy.
3. 2025 BMW i7 M70 (AWD)
- Base Price: $168,500
- Range: 285 mi
- Battery Capacity: 105.7 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 195 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 650
- Torque: 748 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.5 sec
- Weight: 5,929 lbs
- Length: 212.2 in
So get this: If you upgrade to the 21-inch wheels at no cost on your i7 M70, you get better efficiency and more range. It may not surprise you that our recommendation is to upgrade to the 21s. However, our real recommendation is to avoid this version altogether, as it's not dramatically quicker than the far cheaper xDrive60, which incidentally gets better range.
