1. 2025 Audi A5 Sportback 40 TFSI (2.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $46,300
- MPG Combined: 29
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 7-speed automated manual
- Horsepower: 201
- Torque: 236 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.4 sec
- Weight: 3,759 lbs
- Length: 187.2 in
The base A4 Sportback 40 TFSI shares its modest 201-horsepower engine with the A4 sedan 40 TFSI, which was discontinued for 2025. The Sportback's sleek hatchback bodystyle can certainly be distracting, but we'd advise staying focused on what's under the hood, and those 201 horses aren't nearly enough for a rather pricey European luxury car.
2. 2025 Audi A5 Sportback 45 TFSI (2.0T All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $48,400
- MPG Combined: 26
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 7-speed automated manual
- Horsepower: 261
- Torque: 273 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.4 sec
- Weight: 3,781 lbs
- Length: 187.2 in
The A4 Sportback 45 TFSI adds a lot of horses for not a lot of money, though you could argue that the base 40 TFSI is overpriced. For us, it's a no-brainer to upgrade to the 45 TFSI — we'll take the roughly 10% fuel-economy hit in return for 30% more power. You get upsized 19-inch wheels, too, which really tie the room together in terms of the A5 Sportback's styling.
3. 2025 Audi S5 Sportback (3.0T AWD)
- Base Price: $57,900
- MPG Combined: 23
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.0-liter V6
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 349
- Torque: 369 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 3,924 lbs
- Length: 187.2 in
The S5 Sportback picks up where the A5 Sportback 45 TFSI left off, swapping out the latter's four-cylinder engine in favor of a turbocharged V6 that'll catapult you to 60 mph in about four and a half seconds. Not bad for a handy hatchback that can carry a lot of stuff.
