Which 2024 Subaru Ascent Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. There's only one standalone version of the 2024 Subaru Ascent, and here it is, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
2024 Subaru Ascent 2.4T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $34,395
- MPG Combined: 22
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.4-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: CVT
- Horsepower: 260
- Torque: 277 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.8 sec
- Weight: 4,421 lbs
- Length: 196.8 in
- Towing Capacity: 5,000 lbs
The refreshingly simple Ascent offers just this one powertrain, although there are a few nuances to be aware of. For one thing, the 5,000-pound towing capacity doesn't apply to the entry-level trim (priced here), which is limited to 2,000 pounds. So if you want to tow the listed maximum, you'll have to step up to at least the second-rung Premium trim. You should also be aware that the fuel economy figures we've listed are for the Base and Premium trims with their 18-inch wheels; if you spring for the Onyx Edition, Limited or Touring trim, you'll get a set of 20s that lowers the mpg a single tick to 21 mpg combined (19 city/25 highway). Finally, note that there are both eight-passenger and seven-passenger versions of the Ascent, depending on trim level and configuration. Having said all that, it's pretty cool that you can get an eight-passenger turbocharged AWD SUV for less than $35k, isn't it?
