The front-drive GLA 250 subcompact isn't much of an SUV in the traditional sense, but it does serve as a reasonably spunky high-riding hatchback.
Adding 4MATIC all-wheel drive to the GLA 250 only costs $2,000 and a single mile per gallon, and you even pick up a couple of tenths in the race to 60 mph.
The AMG-tuned version of the GLA certainly gets up and goes more rapidly than its lesser siblings, but that starting price seems awfully high to us. If you're going to spend that much, it's advisable to step up to the larger GLC, which is a better vehicle all around.
