1. 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ Sedan (Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $104,400
- Range: 352 mi
- Battery Capacity: 108.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 419 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.8 sec
- Weight: 5,500 lbs
- Length: 207.7 in
The base-model EQS doesn't impress in terms of acceleration or peak DC charging speed, but one thing that jumps out is the cargo capacity. It's technically a hatchback, you see, even though it's got a sedan form factor, and folding down the rear seats gives you SUV-like hauling space.
2. 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC Sedan (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $107,400
- Range: 345 mi
- Battery Capacity: 108.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 355
- Torque: 590 lb-ft
- 0-60: 5.3 sec
- Weight: 5,754 lbs
- Length: 207.7 in
Adding a second motor to the base EQS 450 only costs you a few grand and less than 10 miles of range. On the other hand, Benz doesn't unlock any extra horsepower despite the second motor, but there's plenty more torque, which gives the acceleration a boost.
3. 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan (Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive)
- Base Price: $127,350
- Range: 345 mi
- Battery Capacity: 108.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 536
- Torque: 633 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.1 sec
- Weight: 5,765 lbs
- Length: 207.7 in
The EQS 580 is more what we expect a flagship Mercedes EV to be, delivering impressive acceleration without sacrificing much range. Unfortunately, it costs nearly $130k to start, making the rival Lucid Air look like a stone cold bargain.
4. 2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 4MATIC+ Sedan
- Base Price: $147,550
- Range: 305 mi
- Battery Capacity: 108.4 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 200 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 649
- Torque: 700 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Weight: 5,864 lbs
- Length: 207.7 in
You can see the challenges that automakers face in trying to differentiate their high-performance EVs from lesser ones. Despite carrying the vaunted AMG name, the AMG EQS only gets to 60 mph seven-tenths of a second quicker than the EQS 580, which costs $20k less. Crucially, the AMG version also gives up 40 miles of range to its more attainable stablemate.
