What's New for 2025?
The Air is largely unchanged this year, but it does get standard blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and surround-view camera functionality on all models. As technical footnote, the entry-level Pure model gets a slightly smaller battery pack, but its EPA range estimate increases by a single mile to 420. The Touring and Grand Touring, meanwhile, lose an inconsequential five and four miles, respectively, from their top range estimates. Lucid has also introduced free scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Is the 2025 Lucid Air a Good Car?
"The Air delivers stunning range (up to 512 miles) and acceleration (0-60 in as few as 1.9 seconds) in a midsize package that boasts huge rear legroom. The numbers are cartoonishly awesome compared to what BMW, Mercedes and the like are throwing out there right now. But this is hardly just a numbers car; it drives great, too, with confident handling and a supple ride. That's true even of the base Pure model, and the capabilities just get nuttier from there. Our primary complaint about the Air is that its styling isn't nearly as dynamic as its performance. It would surely be more of a star in the sales reports if its looks weren't so forgettable."—Ranked #1 out of 7 Midsize Luxury Electric Cars
Which 2025 Lucid Air Should I Buy?
MotorDonkey's proprietary vehicle data identifies every significant version of each model so that you can compare and decide. Ordered by price from low to high, here are the versions of the 2025 Lucid Air that you need to be aware of, along with our expert analysis and recommendations.
Scroll to:
1. 2025 Lucid Air Pure (RWD w/19-inch wheels)
- Base Price: $69,900
- Range: 420 mi
- Battery Capacity: 84.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: Rear-wheel drive
- Engine: 1 electric motor
- Horsepower: 430
- Torque: 406 lb-ft
- 0-60: 4.5 sec
- Weight: 4,564 lbs
- Length: 195.9 in
The entry-level Lucid Air Pure is arguably all the Air you need. It's fast, it drives great and it's got plenty of range. Want bigger wheels and less range? The optional 20-inch wheels cost you 25 miles of range, for a still-impressive total of 394, while efficiency also decreases a tick to 26 kWh/100 mi.
2. 2025 Lucid Air Touring (AWD w/19-inch wheels)
- Base Price: $77,900
- Range: 406 mi
- Battery Capacity: 92.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 250 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 620
- Torque: 885 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.4 sec
- Weight: 4,988 lbs
- Length: 195.9 in
Incredibly, the all-wheel-drive Air Touring adds nearly 200 horsepower versus the base rear-drive Pure while achieving the same efficiency rating (25 kWh/100 mi) and nearly the same range (411 miles). If a $78k car can be a bargain, this might be it. Notably, substituting 20-inch or 21-inch wheels knocks those ratings down a few pegs: The 20s net out to 382 miles of range and 27 kWh/100 mi, while the 21s dip to 365 miles and 29 kWh/100 mi. You can guess what our recommendation is — 19s are plenty big, no matter how alluring the bigger wheels look.
3. 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring (AWD w/19-inch wheels)
- Base Price: $109,900
- Range: 512 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 300 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2 electric motors
- Horsepower: 819
- Torque: 885 lb-ft
- 0-60: 3.0 sec
- Weight: 5,236 lbs
- Length: 195.9 in
The Air stops being a bargain at the Grand Touring level, as you're paying $30k more than the Touring. To be fair, the extra spend gets you that gaudy 516-mile range rating, which could seem worth the cash by itself. But the reality is that most people will be impressed by the base Pure and blown away by the Touring, so the question is whether the Grand Touring has enough on top of that to justify the upcharge. As with those other models, caveats about bigger wheels apply: The 20-inch wheels take the Grand Touring down to 485 miles of range and an efficiency rating of 28 kWh/100 mi, while the 21s yield 450 miles and 30 kWh/100 mi, respectively.
4. 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire (Tri-Motor AWD)
- Base Price: $249,000
- Range: 427 mi
- Battery Capacity: 118.0 kWh
- Peak Charge Rate: 300 kW
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3 electric motors
- Horsepower: 1,234
- Torque: 1,430 lb-ft
- 0-60: 1.9 sec
- Weight: 5,335 lbs
- Length: 195.9 in
The Sapphire comes in just one wheel configuration — 20s up front, 21s out back — but the big deal here is obviously the combination of 1,234 horsepower and 427 miles of range, which is mind-blowing by the standards of 2024 EVs. Do you need the Sapphire when you could buy literally three Lucid Air Touring models for the same price? The answer, of course, is that you don't need any of these cars. But the Sapphire is an incredible engineering achievement, no doubt.
