The base Santa Fe is an intriguing "tweener" that offers a small third-row seat and solid turbocharged power at a relatively low price.
All-wheel drive adds $1,800 to the Santa Fe's bottom line and about 150 pounds at the scales, but as the acceleration numbers attest, the 2.5T engine can handle the extra weight.
Unlike the smaller Tucson Hybrid, which makes more power than its conventional siblings, the Santa Fe Hybrid makes significantly less power than the regular Santa Fe. It also weighs more, so this is a net negative in terms of acceleration despite the $3k premium to get into a hybrid. Impressive fuel economy, though.
It's another $1,800 to add AWD to the Santa Fe Hybrid and you lose 2 mpg, but fuel economy should still be lofty enough for most hybrid-shoppers' tastes.
