1. 2024 Cadillac XT6 2.0T Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $48,795
- MPG Combined: 23
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 235
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,362 lbs
- Length: 198.5 in
- Towing Capacity: 1,000 lbs
The base engine is not where it's at. This 2.0-liter turbo four is already overtaxed by the smaller and lighter XT5. Add a few hundred pounds and you've got quite possibly the slowest three-row luxury crossover on the market (well, unless you add all-wheel drive). It'd be nice if the fuel economy were at least average-plus, but nope — it's decidedly subpar, and not in the good golfy way.
2. 2024 Cadillac XT6 2.0T All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $50,795
- MPG Combined: 23
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 2.0-liter inline-4
- Aspiration: Turbocharged
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 235
- Torque: 258 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,565 lbs
- Length: 198.5 in
- Towing Capacity: 1,000 lbs
Weighing in at more than 4,500 pounds and blessed with just 235 horsepower, the XT6 2.0T AWD is quite simply underpowered by today's standards. It's also remarkably inefficient in terms of fuel economy.
3. 2024 Cadillac XT6 3.6 Front-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $54,995
- MPG Combined: 21
- Drive Type: Front-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.6-liter V6
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 310
- Torque: 271 lb-ft
- Weight: 4,441 lbs
- Length: 198.5 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,000 lbs
We've generally liked GM's 3.6-liter V6 over the years, but it's getting long in the tooth and doesn't provide the kind of oomph that would make the XT6 competitive with top rivals. This is the optional engine upgrade, remember, so it's the most acceleration you can get in a 2024 XT6.
4. 2024 Cadillac XT6 3.6 All-Wheel Drive
- Base Price: $56,995
- MPG Combined: 21
- Drive Type: All-wheel drive
- Engine: 3.6-liter V6
- Aspiration: Naturally aspirated
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Horsepower: 310
- Torque: 271 lb-ft
- 0-60: 6.4 sec
- Weight: 4,644 lbs
- Length: 198.5 in
- Towing Capacity: 4,000 lbs
Although our friends at Car and Driver report a 6.4-second sprint to 60 mph with this powertrain, they may have had a tailwind that day. Edmunds reports 7.3 seconds, which is more in line with how the XT6 3.6 AWD feels in the real world. The thing about the V6, remember, is that it's not turbocharged, so you have to rev it out to benefit fully from the advertised output. Most drivers won't do that, so the XT6 V6 will feel even slower to them than the acceleration runs suggest.
